Bio

Hi (again), my name’s Antonio Caparrelli.

I was born in Rome and I’m currently living in Barcelona.

Ever since I was a child, I have always been passionate about (art and) technology and most of my knowledge has been self-taught.

I made my first website on 2000 and it became the first of its kind most visited in Italy.

After that, I started making most serious code creating my first CMS custom made for two online newspapers and for a music label catalogue.

I graduated in Sciences and Technologies of Media in Mathematics Department of University of Rome Tor Vergata. It was a daring degree at the time whose objective was to bring together the mathematics of digital audiovisual signals, their digital treatment and other specialties such as 3D animation, VFX, video editing, networks protocols, web programming and information architecture for database design.

I did a post-grad study in Offf Atelier.

I worked for 10 years in BBDO Spain, 6 of them as R+D Manager and finally as CTO. My job was to do audits, in-house development and project management in case of outsourcing the production to an external partner. There I did teamwork with the creative team and other developers, both from inside and outside the agency.

Since 2018 I work as a freelance doing a lot of coding and design, a part of the process I particularly enjoy. Most of the works in this last period have been creating e-commerce platforms for my clients, mostly using WordPress + Woocommerce, but also Prestashop. I also coded a custom made e-commerce’s CMS for managing Hotels and Bed and Breakfasts, this one is a pretty huge project, entirely made with Laravel framework.

Actually I’m also involved in the production of a 3D movie as Technical Director (TD) and Pipeline TD. Developing the infrastructure to enable the artists to work in place and remotely, and developing a custom pipeline in Shotgrid Toolkit and Maya.
